Mijail Kharash Flamenco Blanca/ Cypress/ Spruce / 2019
Guitar maker Mijail Kharash has had a very interesting path. From Leningrad, where he was born, to Israel after the collapse of the USSR, finally settling in Spain, where he learned the wonderful craft of guitar making. Through contact with John Ray, José Vigil, and more, he developed masterful skills in the art of woodworking and immersed himself in the intricacies of the Spanish handmade guitar tradition. Recently, Mijail’s dedication was rewarded with second prize in the Antonio Marin Montero guitar-making competition.
This lightweight from Granada is extremely impressive. It has a warm and open sound character and responds very directly.
She is crisp, separated and penetrating with a high soulful flair from Granada, a huge volume, extremely quick response, warm yet pure giving a very lyrical quality. The lightweight build, low action and easy playability make this a very capable player's guitar and a fantastic value at this price. Excellent old aged cypress/spruce solid wood selection, top level French polish finish, very tasteful inlays at the rosette and the binding. Very interesting guitar both for a classical or flamenco guitarist.
